Brigitte Snider was born in Hutten, Germany and grew up in Stuttgart. She immigrated to the United States as a young adult. Her art subjects are drawn from her travels and work experience where her camera recorded the scenes she has painted. Brigitte’s gift has been refined through much drawing, painting and university classes. She paints in acrylic, oil, pastel and watercolor. Her paintings wrap the stretched canvas (the edges are painted) unless otherwise noted but, they are otherwise unframed.
The painting above is of the Rio Grande River Gorge northwest of Taos, New Mexico. In the gorge in the foreground lies the river. Above, are the steep rock cliffs, and flat table lands of New Mexico. When required, the artist regularly gives herself the artistic freedom to remove detail from her paintings–thus making them impressions of the scene. The thin layering of paint and use of smooth brush strokes remind the viewer of the long hazy view from elevation above the river Gorge where she has captured the light and its effects of blurring details of the scene.
